Multiple law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate a tragic and serious incident that occurred Sunday at a five-star luxury resort in Aruba, where a newly married couple was found dead in what authorities believe may be a murder-suicide.
According to preliminary reports, police and several ambulance units were dispatched to The St. Regis Aruba Resort, located at J.E. Irausquin Blvd. 75 E, after receiving a report of a jumper at the property. Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers located an adult male who had fallen from the 12th floor of the hotel. Investigators determined that the man died at the scene as a result of the fall after landing on a concrete surface.
Following the initial response, officers conducted a search of the hotel room associated with the man. Inside the room, authorities discovered the body of an adult female. Police stated that she had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. Based on the early findings, investigators are treating the incident as a possible murder-suicide, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Officials confirmed that the couple had recently checked into the resort to celebrate their honeymoon, having been married earlier in the weekend. Their names have not yet been released, as authorities work to notify next of kin.
As the investigation unfolded, law enforcement secured portions of the resort as a safety measure. The swimming pool area and nearby sections of the property were temporarily closed, and guests were asked to remain clear of the affected areas while investigators processed the scene.
Law enforcement agencies emphasized that there is no known threat to the public at this time. Authorities remain on site collecting evidence, conducting interviews, and working to establish a full timeline of events. Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
Law enforcement confirmed that the man and woman found dead were husband and wife.
